Spire Global are seeking a confident and experienced FPGA / DSP engineer to become a key contributor on our satellite communications platform. Projects are diverse, fast paced and include work with numerous wireless standards. The right candidate will have strong analytical skills and be familiar with spectrally efficient wireless signalling and coding techniques as well as software defined radio techniques.
To succeed in the role, you will be able to write signal processing functions and synthesise them for target implementation on Xilinx family of FPGA/SOCs and code for SDRs based on Gnu Radio. You will also be able to integrate existing and 3rd party IP into new products.
You will be a member of a multi disciplinary communications systems team. You will be involved with development for our ground stations as well as satellites. Key job functions will include performing DSP architecture, signal processing simulation, FPGA simulation and implementation, hardware/software integration, test plan development and test execution.
Good Candidates will:
Know Software-Defined Radio (e.g. GNU Radio, USRP, DSP)
Able to code production-quality C/Python DSP for GNURadio
Have thorough knowledge of RF signalling principles (e.g. modulation, filtering etc.)
Integrate 3rd party IP cores such as modulators, demodulators, encoders
Have solid background and understanding of communications theory including Shannon limits, high data rate communications, hardware and software related techniques

Demonstrate good analytical skills
Architect and Implement DSP functions in Xilinx FPGAs
Have good written and verbal communications skills
Have a strong work ethos and be able to work independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team spread in multiple international locations
Competency with RF/wireless test and measurement laboratory equipment
Be willing to teach and be taught
