Job Summary

Job Location: Greater Baltimore Area, MD

Required experience: Strong education and background in computational electromagnetics, stochastic optimization, design and analysis of antenna arrays and/or dielectric lenses for aperture antennas from 5-40 GHz.

Isotropic Systems, Inc is seeking an Optical/Antenna Design and Optimization Engineer to join our growing team of creative, highly skilled engineers. The position is located at our East Coast facility – in the greater Baltimore area, MD.

Experience in computational EM and simulation-based antenna design, together with programming experience (Matlab or Python) would make for a very compelling candidate for this position. Knowledge or experience with the concepts of transformation optics would be even better, similar for work with microwave antenna arrays. Work with metamaterials, metasurfaces, transmitarrays, or reflectarrays would be relevant. Electrical and mechanical prototyping, antenna design and analysis, and RF circuit experience would be very beneficial. Independent, self-driven work ethic and good team skills are desirable. Candidate Discriminators:

A strong candidate will be proficient in multiple of the following points.

1. Antenna design, modeling, and analysis, specifically focused on homogeneous and inhomogeneous dielectric lenses and/or antenna arrays

2. Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation using 3D Full-wave electromagnetic modeling software (e.g. ANSYS HFSS, CST, XFDTD, etc.)

3. Strong Matlab/Python/similar skills

4. Transformation optics / transformation electromagnetics

5. Conventional optical lens design, as well as gradient index (GRIN)
